Sri Lanka Thursday received 500,000 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine under Government of India’s “Vaccine Maitri” (Vaccine Friendship) initiative. The consignment of 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine manufactured in India arrived in Sri Lanka at 28th January 2021 11:45 am on a special Air India flight  The consignment of vaccine weighed 1323 kg and was stored in a special cold storage on the aircraft. The stock of vaccines will be stored in the cold storage facilities at the airport village and distributed in refrigerated vehicles covering 25 districts.
