Is it possible to take any action against Muslim Community just because of the Easter Attacks?

Long awaited results against Muslim community in SriLanka Just happened in the form of Eater Attacks. In SriLanka, jealousy is one of the main concern when it comes to any thoughts against Islam. People feared for Islam because of the way Muslims community growing in business as well as numbers in population. Although there were serious allegations regarding drugs smuggling against them. Muslims have the highest fertility rate, an average of 2.9 children per woman. Therefore, Majority people always had a slight fear that Muslims will outnumbered them in the future. If you take the business, Muslims occupied lead role in almost all kind of business in SriLanka. These things make jealous on other communities towards Muslims.

There is a huge increase in Anti Muslim thoughts just after the Mahinda Rajapaksa’s failed attempt to capture the government on October. Both leaders of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Rauff Hakeem and Rishad Bathiudeen backed Ranil in that situation. Huge social media campaign “Save Wilpattu” was already taken against Rishad. When things are going in that manner, this Easter Attacks suddenly happened and this time it gives more strength to those Anti-Muslim people. We have already seen many allegations related to ISIS activities in SriLanka but unfortunately none of them have enough evidence.

Now come to the point, is it possible to take any serious action again Islam? the consequences will be more serious than the LTTE era. When LTTE formed, they don’t have much support from people, only countable number of people were involved with them . But when Government took severe action against all Tamils just because of they needed to stop LTTE, then only LTTE become stronger than ever. In 1987 When Vadamarachchi Operation started, it almost finished the LTTE. However interference of Indian government again gave them another opportunity. The arrival of IPKF make SriLankan government to handing over arms to the LTTE to remove IPKF from the country and finally it ended with the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

So just think, if the small group of LTTE becomes that much of powerful organization then what will happen for the already established ISIS. In general, Sri Lanka is against western countries and at the same time got many friendly Muslim countries. So, ISIS already knew it and the attacks which they carried out were only targeted the foreigners as well as minority Tamil Christians in Sri Lanka. All the attacks held at the churches were during the Tamil prayer times. Because they know the consequences, if it would go against Sinhalese. If their real motivation was against total Sri Lanka, then there were many great chances to carry out such kind of attacks in other places of the country. They could have easily carry the bombs in the Buddhist temple or even in the people gathering places.

So now it is responsibility of Srilankan government to sort out this matter in a proper manner. proposed ban on Islamic related activities such as Burka or Halal won’t give any effects but give more opportunities to ISIS to recruit more people to their organization. Government should act according to the lesson learned from the LTTE.
