Sri Lanka Thursday received 500,000 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine under Government of India’s “Vaccine Maitri” (Vaccine Friendship) initiative.

The consignment of 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine manufactured in India arrived in Sri Lanka at 28th January 2021 11:45 am on a special Air India flight 

The consignment of vaccine weighed 1323 kg and was stored in a special cold storage on the aircraft. The stock of vaccines will be stored in the cold storage facilities at the airport village and distributed in refrigerated vehicles covering 25 districts. Vaccines will be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.
